ATM machine burglary
in Thornton
AT about 2am on Wednesday 29
November 2006, 3 men drove a black 4x4 Cherokee Jeep
into the front of a supermarket on The Crescent. The men
tied a rope to the tow bar of the car and an ATM machine
inside the shop. The men failed to move the ATM and they
left the scene along Edge Lane, turning right into Thornfield Road where the car was abandoned. The
offenders then made off from the scene in 2 vehicles,
described as being a silver car and a dark car, driving
at speed down Edge Lane.
The driver of the 4x4 is described as being white, aged
between 16 and 20 years old, wearing a black hooded top
with hood up and a dark coloured scarf covering the
mouth. He was wearing gloves and spoke with a Liverpool
accent. The 2 men who entered the shop are described
as being white, aged between 14 and 17 years, of slim
build and short in height.
The 4x4 had been stolen the previous night from Upton,
Wirral.
Police in Merseyside are now appealing for information
following a burglary in Thornton.
Anyone who witnessed the burglary is asked to contact
Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
