CREAM FIELDS 2006
Photos and report by Dionne

WHAT a night! At this year’s
annual Cream Fields festival, this was held in Daresbury. The
weather was overcast and even though it threatened to rain it held
off and thankfully stayed dry. Performing this year were major live
acts such as chart topping US outfit Gnarls Barkley, The Zutons,
Goldfrapp and the UK’s biggest dance band The Prodigy, not to
mention some of the world’s top class DJ’s, all performing in front
of 45.000 people.

Sadly for me and a few others this years
Cream Fields was a great disappointment. Not only was it hard to
find, it was also badly organised. There seemed to be less tents and
not much variety in music in the tents, it had a different
atmosphere than previous years and there was a lot of fighting which
I have never witnessed before in all the four years I have been
going.
All in all this year’s Cream Fields gets a thumbs down. There
definitely won’t be a next year for me, as the whole night was a big
let down.

CORONATION STREET'S RICHARD FLEESHMAN JOINS ITV'S BIG CLEAN-UP
WELL known
actor, Richard Fleeshman who is one of the stars of Coronation
Street and winner of Soap Star Superstars, has joined in the
celebrity launch of ITV's Big Clean-Up campaign culminating on 17
September 2006 all around the country.
ITV are encouraging volunteers to attend Tower Hill, part of Kirby
Town Centre in Knowsley. Volunteers will take part in a range of
activities including vegetation control, litter picking, fence
painting and graffiti removal. The central point for the site is
painting a memorial and planting a Field of Hope at St Andrew's
Church with Marie Curie Cancer Charity.
Richard, who has recently voted sexiest male at The British Soap
Awards, took time out from his busy filming schedule to pose on the
set of Coronation Street highlighting both the campaign and the need
for young people to get involved in clearing up their local
communities and the environment at large.
Richard said that:- "Young and old should care about the world
we come into and the world we leave behind. Our children and
grandchildren need the best opportunities and that's not going to
happen if we let things get out of control.
Young people often feel powerless to change things in the world and
I think that people need to see that a difference can be made in
order to get involved. This is why ITV's Big Clean-Up Campaign is so
valuable."
ITV's Big Clean-Up is a major partnership between CSV, the UK's
largest volunteering charity, with funding from v the new charity
established to inspire a million more young volunteers. The campaign
is being lead by teams of young volunteers who will mobilise 4,000
young people to volunteer at over 20 projects across the country.
Business in the Community's Cares initiative is also seeking
businesses and their employees to complete challenges in around 60
projects around the UK. Details of all the projects can be found via
the website -
