BAD weather hit most of
the UK again making this years August the wettest on
record. Sadly for the Flowershow the bad weather has
all so affected it growing the show to the growing list of weather
affected events this year. This how ever did not put of
the enthusiasts, over the first two days of the 4 day long
event. "It is weather for ducks, not
gardeners, but after the sun scorching the flowers early
on this year, we can not complain about a bit of rain...
We were parrying for it!" one tourist who had
come up from severely hit Exeter told us on Thursday, at
the show. In side the massive Grand Floral Marquee,
even the one of the displays added rain to it.
"We added the water feature as a joke last
second. We were the first to start building,
but we soon had to stop as the ground became flooded a
week before the show was due to start. A day
later we started again. After most of the main work
had been completed we decided to add the rain to the roof
of our hut instead of putting in our original idea, a fountain.
The idea is to show the contrast between what was going on
out side and making fun of our original concept, showing
the good old view of "Sunny Southport"."
Pete Jackson from Dobbies told us.
